Zenith Grande Class Traveller - Entire World on Your Wrist

Oct 15, 2007
The Zenith Manufacture has introduced the Grande Class Traveller Open Multicity, a new horological challenge taken up by the highly-expertized watchmaking company. The timepiece has incorporated a complication that allows it to simultaneously show the time in 24 different time zones of the world, including Tokyo, Paris, New York and even Hong Kong.

To display the time in any time zone of the world, the hour hand of the Grande Class Traveller anchors a special rotating disk with the names of the cities. It is also possible to determine whether it is night or day by the sun or the star pictured on the disk. All the owner of the Zenith watch has to do is to set the city he finds himself in at twelve noon and activate the crown placed at 11 o'clock.

In addition, the Zenith Grande Class Traveller Open Multicity has a Grande Date provided with a three-disk patented exclusive mechanism. The date is displayed with great visibility, while requiring minimal caliber space.

Besides remarkable technical features, the new Zenith watch reveals a totally unforeseen design. The 24 cities are displayed on a spiral, so the dial features a really sophisticated look creating a harmonious contrast with the sober 46-mm case. The watch's case has been created in two versions. The rose gold version is classical and precious, while the stainless steel version is more modern.

The Zenith Grande Class Traveller Open Multicity is characterized by meticulous attention to detail. The transparent sapphire glass case-back and integrated handmade black crocodile strap with triple folding clasp add the finishing touch to the entire look of the exclusive timekeeping creation.

In the heart of the Zenith watch there beats El Primero 4037 Caliber, an automatic chronograph movement that comprises 351 components. The mechanism is beating at 36,000 vibrations per hour, thus providing precision measurements to within the nearest tenth of a second. One more advantage offered by the movement is 50-hour power reserve. The oscillating weight crafted in 22K gold or heavy metal is decorated with 'Grain d'Orge' guilloche pattern.

The silvered dial of the Zenith watch embellished with 'Grain d'Orge' guilloche sports hand-mounted applique Arabic numerals and indexes. The faceted hour and minute hands of the Zenith Grande Class Traveller Open Multicity are traditionally placed in the center of the dial, while the small seconds-hand is found at 9 o'clock.

As for the chronograph function, it is presented through center seconds-hand and 30-minute counter at 3 o'clock. The Grande Date is found over 2 o'clock and provided with instantaneous double jump. The heart of El primero 4037 Caliber may be admired through the opening at 10 o'clock. The timepiece boasts 50-meter water-resistance.

The Zenith Grande Class Traveller Open Multicity, the same as every watch from the brand's Class collection, reveals the concept of saying much with few words. The collection, based on a minimalist approach, is created in a really pure style. Timepieces from the collection are aimed at those who appreciate classical style of timeless value successfully mixed with subtle elegance and discreet luxury.

A model in distinctive Zenith style! And so complicated - I'd be afraid to get lost in all these functions. I think the watch looks too luxurious for a wrist of a traveler. I can bet it costs a whole fortune!
