Maradona and Hublot Million Dollar Wall in Moscow

Oct 01, 2010
On September 29, legendary Argentinian football player Diego Maradona faced the challenge of the Hublot Million Dollar Wall. It was the first time that the living football legend accepted such a challenge, called by him - his "Russian challenge". The event took place on the roof terrace of the Tsum department store located right in the heart of Moscow.

The challenge was the following: a wall of the real size of a football goal, 10 balls, at 10 circular-hole targets from of different diameters, at the distance of 16 meters. Each ball represented a value of 25,000 to 300,000 US dollars. Maradona took a shot at each target in sequence, with each shot raising the total sum of the donation by the amount shown under the hole.

Maradona raised the total sum of 500,000 US dollars to support the Raisa Gorbacheva Memorial Institute for Children Hematology and Transplantation at the Pavlov State Medical University of Saint Petersburg. Professor Afanasiev, Director of the Institute, received the prize.

Having taken up the challenge, Diego Maradona together with Mr Ricardo Guadalupe, General Director of Hublot, presented the first piece of the new Hublot Maradona limited edition watch at the brands Moscow Boutique on the 1st floor of Tsum. The Hublot watch, crafted from gold and ceramic, celebrates the living legend and commemorates his "Russian challenge".

The Hublot Maradona Gold and Ceramic watch follows the amazing success of the first Big Bang Chronograph Maradona crafted in black ceramic. The case of the new celebrity watch is sculptured in polished red gold, while its bezel is in black ceramic.

The black dial proudly sports Maradona's signature in blue. Your glance will be also caught by his legendary jersey number 10 on the 3 o'clock counter. The dial features the indices and seconds hand in the same blue and white color, along with the special 45-minute counter positioned at 9 o'clock, hinting at the duration of half a football match.

The Maradona watch is presented on a black alligator Gummy strap with three rows of stitches - two blue and one white inspired by the flag of Argentina.
The case-back holds one more surprise - it depicts Maradona in person, with his arms raised in a Victory sign.

The new Hublot Maradona Gold and Ceramic watch will be available in a limited edition of just 100 pieces. Each piece will be delivered with a football jersey bearing the autograph of the legend.
