Meet Hublot Big Bang Black Magic AmfAR Bang Automatic Chronograph Watch

May 16, 2011
Once again the house of Hublot joins the stream of limited edition models by issuing its new Big Bang Black Magic amfAR Bang automatic chronograph watch. Part of the funds realized from its sale will be donated to the US-based amfAR non-profit organization - the foundation for AIDS Research.

Produced in limited series of just 100 pieces, the new Hublot watch comes packaged in a 44.5 mm round-shaped case. It is rendered in micro-blasted black ceramic. The same material is employed in the manufacturing of the bezel. Featured at 3 o’clock, the massive winding crown is made of steel with a blue rubber insert. So are the chronograph push-pieces, located at 2 and 4 o’clock.

The front side of the case is protected by a double-sided glare-proofed sapphire crystal. The sapphire glass is also used for the case-back. The water-resistance of the model is assured down to 100 meters.

Atop the new Hublot Big Bang Black Magic amfAR Bang automatic chronograph watch sits a black dial, reflecting the amfAR’s color scheme. It comprises a blue Superluminova and orange-colored minute track. The dial offers central hours and minutes, indicated by satin-finished rhodium-plated hands, inlaid with blue Superluminova. The small seconds are shown in a counter at 9 o’clock.

The display also provides chronograph functions, ensured by a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, a 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock and a yellow-colored central seconds hand. The latter is counterweighted by the brand’s signature “H”. The date indication appears in the aperture between 4 and 5 o’clock.

All the functions are brought to life by a Swiss made self-winding HUB 4100 movement. It is composed of 252 individual parts. The caliber incorporates a sand-blasted and rhodium-plated main-plate as well as tungsten oscillating weight with a black PVD-treated dimpled surface. The bridges are satin-finished, bevelled and polished. The mechanism runs at the rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a 42-hour power reserve.

The new Hublot watch is accompanied by an adjustable alligator gummy and black rubber strap, with blue and yellow stitching. It is finalized by a Big Bang deployant buckle in black PVD steel.
