The German watchmaker
Grieb & Benzinger has built a solid reputation with exceptional collector’s models, equipped with such complications as minute repeaters. A high demand for special chronographs, however, encouraged the brand to release a unique timepiece, rendered in solid platinum.
The
new Blue Sensation watch is constructed around a
hand-wound mechanical caliber, which utilizes as its base a
Patek Philippe split-seconds chronograph movement. It was developed by the house in
1889 and delivered to
Tiffany in 1890. Completely disassembled for more than 20 times, the mechanism underwent afterwards a considerable technical evolution.
The base plate of the movement is hand-skeletonized, guilloched and treated with blue platinum. The caliber also incorporates a changed in shape three-quarter plate. Just as well skeletonized by hand and quilloched, it is coated with rhodium and rose gold.

Releasing only about 100 watches per year, the German brand
Grieb & Benzinger has the ability to carefully plan its extraordinary offerings. The creation of the marvelously luxurious and detailed unique watches requires many hours of dedicated work that often involves heavy amounts of skeletonization as well as engraving of specific figurines.
This year, the company is proud to present its one-of-a-kind
Blue Wave watch, which will become a cherished possession of only one lucky collector. The new Grieb & Benzinger watch features an impressive
46 mm case, rendered in
18-karat rose gold. The same metal is employed in manufacturing of the winding crown and button. The top of the last-mentioned element is adorned with a guilloche motif. Both front and back sides of the case are fitted with high-grade sapphire crystals.
The interior life of the watch is represented by an
exclusive Minerva mono-pusher column wheel mechanical chronograph movement. It is skeletonized, engraved and guilloched by hand in the watchmaker’s best traditions. Hand-skeletonized to its bare minimum in the
wave style inherent to the brand, the base plate is treated with a
blue platinum coating.
