In 2009, Chopard is proud to unveil a digital chronograph watch - the Grand Prix de Monaco Historique Time Attack MF - destined at those who love high speeds. The watch demonstrates supreme elegance inspired by the distinctive designs of the 1970s. The new Chopard watch has been created with the idea that speed lovers need an extremely accurate chronograph. The latest-generation ‘Swiss made’ quartz movement, animating the watch, is chronometer-certified by the COSC.
The Grand Prix de Monaco Historique Time Attack MF, a precise multifunctional instrument, allows to measure short time intervals to within one hundredth of a second. It is packed with a variety of other functions.
The Chopard watch provides traditional hours, minutes and seconds indicated by Superluminova-coated central hands, as well as the date, countdown, second time-zone, two alarms (local time and second time-zone) and 100th second chronograph functions. The functions are managed via two multifunction pushbuttons positioned at 2 and 4 o’clock, being displayed on a digital screen at 6 o’clock. The bezel features a tachometric scale.
The black dial is completed with big-sized hour-markers and a bright orange seconds hand. You will notice a “Monaco Historique” inscription also in orange. It is shielded by a glare-resistant sapphire crystal.
The case of the Chopard watch, 42.5 mm in diameter, is crafted in either steel or 18K rose gold. The steel crown of the watch is embellished with a racing wheel motif.
The case-back is engraved with a ”Grand Prix de Monaco Historique” inscription.
The case is coupled with a black barenia leather or rubber strap, the latter featuring a 1960s Dunlop Racing tyre-tread motif. The timepiece may also go with a steel bracelet.
The Chopard Grand Prix de Monaco Historique Time Attack MF watch is 50-meter water-resistant.
As Watches.InfoNIAC.com found out, the Grand Prix de Monaco Historique, initially held in 1998, is considered to represent the most important historical car race. It is joined by seasoned automobile collectors, coming generally from the USA, Germany, France and Italy. More than 200 cars that made their mark on their respective eras join each edition, including Alfa Romeo, Delage, Bugatti, Aston Martin, Maserati, Porsche, Ferrari, and even the early Formula 1 cars (constructed before 1979) from Brabham, Lotus or Williams.
