A Lange and Sohne Unveils Grand Lange 1 Luminous Watch

A. Lange & Sohne unveils a newly designed Grand Lange 1 “Luminous” watch. The black dial of the timepiece demonstrates brightly glowing hands and appliques. The 42mm case is rendered in white gold.

The Lange 1 joined the world of watchmaking 15 years ago. Since then, it has served as the source of inspiration for the iconic style of the brand’s watches. The Lange 1 stood out by its asymmetric dial layout, the patented outsized date, and a manufacture calibre offering a three-day power reserve. In no time, the timepiece became the most outstanding bestseller of the A. Lange & Sohne manufacture. It is also notable that the Lange 1 watch is found on the list of timepieces honored by the biggest number of awards in the history of watchmaking.

In 2003, A. Lange & Sohne unveiled the Grand Lange 1 watch destined at the design-icon fans who like larger-format watches. Having maintained the characteristics of the original, the watch featured a 41.9 mm case.

The Grand Lange 1 “Luminous” watch strikes imagination by its black dial in solid silver and a stately case in white gold. The dial of the watch boasts superb visibility even in the dark as it is completed with luminous hands and appliques in rhodiumed gold with Superluminova fillings.

The heart of the luminous timepiece is a reliable manually wound Lange movement - L901.2 calibre decorated and assembled by hand. The 365-part movement, reflecting the highest Lange quality standards, demonstrates typical design peculiarities, including the three-quarter plate produced from untreated German silver, screwed gold chatons, the patented whiplash precision index adjuster, the twin mainspring barrel that provides a 72-hour power reserve, the hand-engraved balance cock, as well as the unique outsize date display.
