Glashutte Original Unveils Pocket Watch No. 1
Glashutte Original has created a new timekeeping companion – an eminently refined pocket watch that boasts a quarter-hour repetition mechanism. The Glashutte Original Pocket Watch No. 1 has been inspired by a historical watch created by Julius Assmann, a celebrated pioneer of Glashutte watchmaking. It will be limited to just 25 pieces.

The Pocket Watch No. 1, sculptured in rose gold, is characterized by high watchmaking standards, an innovative construction and highly appealing design. The zest of the timepiece is the quarter-hour repetition, sounding the quarter hours and hours. First, the repetition indicates the number of hours that have already passed using one tone. Then, it indicates the elapsed quarter hours since the last hour using the second higher tone.

The case incorporates a special lever at 6 o’clock to be used for the repetition operation. The crown is used for winding the timepiece, while the two-level yoke winding mechanism is used for setting the time. It is remarkable that, for accurate setting, when the crown is pulled out, the balance wheel is halted and the eccentric seconds hand jumps to “zero”.  read more

Glashutte Original Launches Senator Sixties Square Chronograph
The retro-touched Senator Sixties Square Chronograph was a fascinating innovation presented by Glashutte Original at Baselworld, in 2009. A special design dates back to the times when geometrical shapes influenced to a considerable extent the fashion and art. So this timepiece is a smart combination of fine elegance and technical progress.

The Glashutte Original Senator Sixties Square Chronograph watch boasts a 42mm case made of stainless steel. The bright polish, featured by this softly rounded square shape, places an emphasis on the sapphire crystal refinement. Looking through it, one can’t really tear the eyes from the curved dials performed in black or matte silver, diamond-cut hour markers as well as the Arabic figures of the period-style.

There are two kinds of curved hands - the black dial enjoys the silver hands and the silver dial has the rose gold ones. Every little detail here adds to the retro image of the timepiece.

The fine stalk-type chronograph pushers are one more thing, standing out here. Resembling the start and stop buttons of the chronograph watches that belonged to the 1960’s, these details make the watch really user-friendly.

The self-winding 39-34 caliber with an exquisite decoration can be seen through the sapphire crystal exhibition window, accommodated in the case-back of the Glashutte Original Senator Sixties Square Chronograph.

Produced by Glashutte Original, this movement demonstrates traditional features of Saxon watchmaking : three-quarter plate with a ribbed finish as well as a swan neck fine adjustment polished by hand.

The skeletonized central rotor presents gilt double-G brand insignia and boasts a 21-karat gold mass, intended for optimizing the winding motion.

Due to a balance frequency amounting to 28, 800 vibrations per hour, the chronograph can measure certain time intervals within the accuracy of 1/8th second. The power reserve constitutes 40 hours.

A leather strap, with large scales, made of Louisiana alligator, along with a tang buckle made of polished stainless steel, crowns the image of the Glashutte Original Senator Sixties Square Chronograph watch. The water-resistance of the watch is down to 30 meters.
