Girard-Perregaux
Girard-Perregaux presents its
new Traveller ww.tc watch. Created as a fine traveling watch, the timepiece reflects the brand’s remarkable expertise in the field of world time watches.
Till the end of the 19th century each city used its own time based on observation of the sun. For example, the United States had about 115 official local times. In 1870, the Canadian engineer
Sandford Fleming introduced a worldwide system, having divided the world into 24 time zones. The system was gradually adopted by all countries of the world. In 1935, the Genevan watchmaker
Louis Cottier developed a timepiece indicating the time in all 24 time zones.
The
case of the new Girard-Perregaux watch is constructed from 34 elements and demonstrates polished and satin-brushed finishes. The steel case accommodates a
self-winding movement - the
in-house caliber GP03300. The 476-part mechanism drives the following functions – hours, minutes, small seconds, world time with day/night indication, a chronograph and a date.
The
opaline dial features two hands in luminescent material and a clearly visible seconds hand. The creators of the timepiece wanted the dial to show the meridians, while maintaining its supreme readability. The dial is edged by a beveled ring with the names of the 24 cities and by the 24-hour day/night disk. The date aperture is found at 2 o’clock. The 30-minute counter is positioned at 9 o’clock, the small seconds counter at 3 o’clock, and the 12-hour aperture at 6 o’clock. The hour markers are also provided with luminescent material.
Although the new Traveller ww.tc watch boasts its mechanical complexity, it is
absolutely user-friendly. The single screwed crown found at 3 o’clock is to be used for regulating all the watch’s functions. The crown has three notches. The first position is for setting the city index, the second for setting the date and the third for setting the time, the minute and the 24-hour ring.
The ergonomic design of the watch is completed with an extremely flexible rubber strap covered in velvet look alligator leather.
The
new Girard-Perregaux Traveller ww.tc watch has been created in
three other variations: a matte black dial and a steel case, a silvered opaline dial and a titanium case, and a silvered opaline dial, a black ceramic bezel and a steel case.

Girard-Perregaux introduces its
new Traveller collection. The novelties demonstrate a refined and modern style. They are both casual and elegant. The collection includes two models – a chronograph watch with time zone indication, and a moon phases and large date model.
The new Traveller collection is characterized by sleek lines and dynamic curves. The surface of the
44 mm case features alternating satin-brushed and polished finishes that capture and reflect the light, underlining each design detail. The dials present the time display in relief.
The oscillating weight and the folding clasp are devoted to the arrow of the brand’s signature three gold Bridges.
The
Traveller moon phases and large date watch immediately makes one feel its modernity. The steel case is built from 30 elements, catching the glance by a subtle interplay of satin-brushed and polished surfaces.
The
slightly spherical opaline dial features the time with an effect of depth with help of the plunging beveled minute scale. The dial is graced by applique hour-markers with luminescent tips pointing towards the center. The hour and minute hands are also provided with a luminescent material. The dial indications are elegantly laid out. The large date window found at 12 o’clock is topped by a polished GP applique. The moon phases are presented along with the small seconds at 7.30. The power reserve display is found at 4.30.
The heart of the timepiece is a
self-winding mechanical movement –
in-house caliber GP03300. The 35-jewel movement, beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, gives an advantage of a 46-hour power-reserve.
Due to an innovative design, the
moon phases and power reserve display mechanisms are linked directly to the barrel. The remarkably precise lunations are presented on a wheel in continuous rotation. They have to be adjusted just by one day in 122 years. The corrector is found on the case at 10 o’clock.
You will notice that the
design for the moon is highly realistic. The image depicts the visible face of the moon – it is created on a mineral glass and then metalized with a gentle gradation from black to gray making one think of the Milky Way. The sky is studded by silvery stars. The display is framed by a satin-brushed circular border bearing the divisions of the small seconds.
The instantaneous large date jumps in 15 milliseconds. The work of the date display mechanism is based on a system patented by the brand. It incorporates two disks – a transparent disk and a matte disk, for the units and tens respectively. The disks, being just 0.10 mm thin, overlap with no borderline. The round contemporary calligraphy of the date numerals finely matches the overall design of the timepiece.
The
new Girard-Perregaux Time Traveller moon phases and large date watch is presented on a black alligator leather strap perfectly integrated with the case for the utmost comfort on the wrist.
The model has been also created with a black or gray dial, a black ceramic bezel and a brown strap.
