The inauguration of the
Singapore Grand Prix was held on 28 September 2008 on a specially-created circuit around the Marina Bay area. The Formula 1 race was destined to become the first ever race in the world held at night and the first city-centre race held in Asia. The 2008 race attracted over 100,000 spectators and 110 million TV-viewers throughout the world.

The
Special One watch represents a smart blend of the sporting spirit and the refinement of timing. For the first time rendered in 18k rose gold, the
Cintree Curvex case features a durable brushed finish. Both the crown and the chronograph pushers are performed in black and provided by a unique protection, due to which the case is extended.
With Guilloche soleil embellishment, the black dial has details in pink gold in line with the case. A massive Special 1, just as well crafted in gold, substitutes the 1-hour marker.

Franck Muller Watchland SA for its remarkable achievements as a manufacturer.
On October 9, 2008, Jean-Luc Favre, president of the OPI jury bestowed the "Prix de l'Industrie" award to Vartan Sirmakes, co-founder and CEO of the Franck Muller Group, and Nicholas Rudaz, General Manager of the Franck Muller Group.
The
Prix de l'Industrie award was introduced by the City of Geneva in 1985 as a way to recognize and encourage the city's manufacturers who have managed to achieve the highest levels of innovation.
