The watchmaking house
Eterna has once again demonstrated its ability to surprise watch enthusiasts by unveiling its innovative
Madison Eight-Days watch. The official introduction of the timepiece is to take place at
Baselworld 2010.
The undeniable highlight of the new Eterna watch is the brand’s Spherodrive device, a new kind of barrel, which rotates on seven ball-bearings. It is incorporated into the
manually-wound Eterna 3510 movement, executed entirely in the manufacture’s workshops.
The movement is embellished with 22 jewels and operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. The mechanism provides an extended
eight-day power reserve. Just as well it offers an automatic cut-off of the balance wheel after eight continuous days.

This autumn,
Eterna, a traditional Swiss watchmaking company, is unveiling
two new dial designs created for the brand's Vaughan Big Date line. One dial design is created in anthracite, while the other one in off-white.
In 2007, the
Vaughan Big Date line, featuring classically elegant watches equipped with Eterna's own movements, marked the company's return to the refined art of fine watchmaking. The Eterna 3030 calibre provides the unique big date display.
Now, the Eterna Vaughan Big Date reveals a rose-gold case, an
anthracite dial coupled with a brown alligator leather strap.
The stainless-steel version of the Eterna watch reveals an
off-white dial. The timepiece goes on a black or brown alligator leather strap. The dial of the watch is convex to match the lens-shaped movement. The elegant dial is completed with subtle minute markings, purely-designed indices and straight dauphine hands.
The
big date display of the Vaughan Big Date provides a
fast-to-act date function switching over in less than a second at midnight. A great advantage of the movement is that the switch mechanism allows the watch's owner to adjust both the time and date over twenty-four hours. The units disc turns automatically the tens disc in the date display as required. To come up with a slim-line movement, the Eterna engineers have elaborated a ball bearing-mounted date disc, having integrated gear toothing.
To manually adjust the date, it is necessary to twist the crown, with one complete turn adjusting the date by two days.
Being shaped as a lens, the
Eterna 3030 calibre features a convex profile on both sides. The two discs of the date display are perfectly united into the movement's cambered surface. The discs are designed as two concentric cambered rings, rotating side-by-side. The automatic movement, providing big date display function, boasts to be the slimmest in its class.
The Eterna 3030 calibre has been developed to guarantee
remarkable longevity.
