Edox Joins Efforts with Christian Redl

Nov 26, 2010
Prior to the launch of its new Limited Edition Iceman I watch, Edox has invited merman Christian Redl to become the brands ambassador. The watchmaking brand and the merman share the same philosophy and enjoy taking on new challenges.

The Edox Iceman I watch will be limited to 700 pieces. The watch follows the amazing success of the first Ice Shark watch. It boasts 1000-meter water-resistance. Provided with black PVD coating, the case incorporates a rotating black ceramic bezel and is coupled with a genuine rubber strap. The heart of the new Edox watch is a reliable automatic movement.

Characterized by supreme technical performance, durability, and strength, the Edox Iceman I watch will accompany Christian Redl during his extreme dives.

Born in 1976 in Australia, Christian Redl has been in love with water since his childhood. In 1996, Christian watched the cult movie The Big Blue and took up freediving. At a championship meeting the same year, he met the famous free-diver, Umberto Pelizzari. Today, Christian Redl is a true merman, one of the best free-diving specialists of his generation.

Christian Redl is the holder of a number of world free-diving records. One of his most famous records is the longest ever swim under ice (100 meters). The merman is also famous for his crossing of several underwater caves in Mexico.

In 2011, Christian Redl will attempt to surpass the world free-diving record of diving under ice. Wearing only a 3 mm neoprene wetsuit, the celebrity merman will attempt to beat the record of 60 meters in water at barely 2 degrees.
