The Duometre a Quantieme Lunaire watch summons up Jaeger- LeCoultre’s greatest accomplishments in the field of horology. The model offers the functions of showing the time with a jumping seconds hand, which indicates 1/6th of a second increments. Additionally, it displays the date and the age of the moon in an individual counter.
A particular highlight of this timepiece is represented by the Dual-Wing movement concept, already mentioned above. It is characterized by utilizing two independent power supplies. The first one is intended for creating an impeccable timing foundation, regulated by the escapement and balance. The second power supply is meant for displaying the time, animating hour, minutes and seconds hands, along with the date and the age of the moon for the Northern and Southern hemisphere. Both power supplies are synchronized through the escapement-driven jumping seconds hand mechanism.
With its novel Duometre collection, Jaeger-LeCoultre has accomplished a true technical feat: the brand developed a totally new movement structure to achieve the highest level of exactitude.
The in-house manufactured mechanical hand-wound Calibre 381 is embellished with special patterns for the corresponding parts of every function of the movement. These enchanting details, which affirm their character in a classical style with a touch of extravagance, can be admired through a sapphire crystal case-back. The movement features a balance wheel making 21,600 alternations per hour. This mechanism offers a respectable 50-hour power reserve.
The remarkably beautiful and superbly finished, Caliber 381 is composed of 369 individual parts and paved with 40 jewels. The movement is 7.25 mm high and measures 33.7 mm in diameter.
Although powered by a complex movement, the Jaeger-LeCoultre watch demonstrates a clear dial that is extremely easy to read. Thus, hours and minutes are shown on the right hand side, whereas the date and moon phases are indicated on the left hand side. The central seconds hand and the jumping seconds are located in the lower middle of the timepiece.
The watch dial is equipped with leaf-type, brass, gold-plated hour and minutes hands. They are kept company by a baton-shaped gold-plated seconds hand with a pear-shaped counterweight.
The 42 mm case of the new Jaeger-LeCoultre watch is 13.5 mm thick. It is crafted either in 18-carat pink gold, presented with a hand-grained, silver-colored dial, or in 18-carat yellow gold, presented with an eggshell dial. Polished and satin-brushed, the watch case is assembled with domed sapphire crystals, anti-reflective on both sides.
