The Girard-Perregaux bi-axial Tourbillon has been constructed with two concentric cages that enable the regulating part to perform multi-dimensional rotations. This sothisticated construction compensates for rate irregularities caused by the Earth’s gravity.
The internal cage that bears the balance wheel, balance spring and escapement performs one complete turn on its axis in 45 seconds, while the external cage performs one revolution in one minute and 15 seconds, enabling a rotation on its second axis. A full revolution requires three minutes and 45 seconds. This aerial ballet paralizes the glance. The alternation of positions provides supreme rate precision.
It is important to mention that the two tourbillon cages, built from 113 components, weigh just 0.80 grams.
The mechanical manual-winding 28-jewel movement, Caliber GPE0201, operating at frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour, offers 72 hours of power-reserve.
The Girard-Perregaux DLC titanium bi-axial Tourbillon watch is presented on an alligator leather strap fitted with a folding buckle.
The exclusive nature of the timepiece is also accentuated by its limited edition number of just 8 pieces.
