de Grisogono unveils a new interpretation of its iconic Meccanico dG watch. The brand’s technical masterpiece will be available in a limited edition and demonstrates a fine play on contrasts between white and black details.

The new de Grisogono watch will be unveiled at Baselworld 2011.

The Meccanico dG watch, featuring an analogue and digital mechanical display, is animated by a sophisticated mechanical movement. The partially skeleton dial of the watch catches the glance by the gear trains, cams and micro-segments. The impressive matt black titanium case features refined lines. It is coupled with a matt black alligator leather strap.

The heart of the timepiece is an in-house hand-wound movement composed of 651 components. The analogue display of the hours and minutes is presented with help of white hour-markers and hands. The mechanical digital display shows time in the second time zone. It is presented with help of white mobile micro-segments driven by 23 cams, along with gears and a triggering/synchronisation mechanism. The transition between one indication and the next requires the instantaneous 90° rotation of between 1 and 12 different segments.

The 111-ruby movement offers 36 hours of power reserve.

The new de Grisogono dG Meccanico watch is 30-meter water-resistant. The sapphire crystal case-back allows to see the intricacies of the movement.
