TW Steel Unveils Dario Franchitti Special Edition Watch

Jun 01, 2010
TW Steel is pleased to present its special edition timepiece that honors the brilliant career of Dario Franchitti, the two-time IndyCar Series Champion and 2007 Indianapolis 500 winner. The 36-year-old Scottish racer has recently become an ambassador for the brand and has been personally involved in the creation of the watch.

The TW Steel Dario Franchitti Edition watch catches the glance by its bold combination of colors - blue, green and red suggested by the race driver’s helmet colors, inspired by the Scottish and Italian flags reflecting the driver’s heritage.

The red numeral 10 hints at Dario Franchitti’s number when he participated in 2009 IndyCar season, while numbers 2 and 7 in green stand for the number 27 featured by him during his 2007 Indy 500 victory.

The tachymeter ring demonstrates Franchitti’s name in blue. The case-back reveals the race driver’s logo, signature and major achievements.

The TW Steel Dario Franchitti Edition watch has been created in two sizes – with a 45mm and 48mm case crafted from stainless steel. The bezel of the watch is fitted with black PVD-coated screws. The pillars connecting the bezel and the case-back are also provided with black PVD coating. The timepiece is 100-meter water-resistant.

The watch is expected to be available for sale starting with the middle of July. The retail price of the watch is 850 (45mm) and 895 (48mm) US dollars.

The new TW Steel watch was unveiled at a cocktail event held in Indianapolis on 22nd May. The event was visited by Dario Franchitti, as well as IndyCar star Scott Dixon, and IndyCar legend Arie Luyendyk.

TW Steel (The Watch in Steel) celebrates its fifth anniversary this year. It represents a family-owned company that joined the world of watchmaking as an innovative, bold-lifestyle brand presently available in about 50 countries worldwide.
