Bvlgari Collection Daniel Roth Tourbillon Lumiere - New Horological Summits Reached

Mar 26, 2010
The Tourbillon Lumiere is an undeniable highlight of the 2010 Bvlgari Collection Daniel Roth watch collection. The watch catches the eye by its bewitching design.

The timepiece, unveiled at Baselworld 2010, brings together the skeletonized movement and the tourbillon escapement, two top achievements in the watchmaking industry. It represents a clever blend of minimalism, ultimate elegance and horological sophistication.

The new Bulgari watch demonstrates a double-ellipse case, rendered in 18-karat rose gold. It measures 44mm in diameter. On its front side the case is armed with a synthetic sapphire crystal, which provides a stunning vision of the transparent movement. The latter is equipped with hand-engraved bridges and a main plate, manufactured from brown gold. The open-worked dial proudly exposes the keyless winding, mainspring barrel and going train.

The most striking thing about the new Bulgari Daniel Roth watch is the complex one-minute tourbillon. Composed of 82 diminutive elements, this device boggles the demanding publics imagination with its seeming suspension right in the mid-air. In a remarkably lightweight cage, a screw balance, moving back and forth at 21,600 times per hour, as well as other parts of the escapement group, accomplish a full rotation every 60 seconds.

Another hallmark of the Bvlgari Collection Daniel Roth Lumiere watch is its curved minute track, polished and beveled by hand. It considerably enhances the visual appeal of the watch. When fully wound, the manually crafted DR 780 tourbillon movement offers a 64-hour power reserve.

The water-resistance of the marvelous Bulgari Daniel Roth watch is down to 30 meters.

The new timepiece is teamed with a hand-sewn alligator leather strap, which tastefully matches the luxurious watch case and its skeletonized movement. The final touch is provided by a buckle, sculptured from rose gold.
