Cyrus Kuros Watches - Inspired by King of Persia

Feb 08, 2011
The house of Cyrus is delighted to present its mind-blowing Kuros collection. It is inspired by the historical events, occurred at the time, when Cyrus, the great king of Persia reigned. Honest and fair beyond compare, he was attacked by Croesus, King of Lydia, who ignored the prophecy of the Delphic Oracle.

The Oracle told him that a "great nation would fall", if he crossed the Halys River. Unfortunately, the great nation turned out to be his own. Thus, nothing could threaten the Cyrus’ ascent to power.

Every watch, included in the new Kuros collection is endowed with an original design, which required years of intensive development. Both traditional and trendy, this collection demonstrates the ability of Cyrus to unite the past and present.

With its shape, inspired either by an Egyptian scarab or a futuristic car, the new Cyrus watch wraps itself around the wearer’s wrist with an incredible comfort. Thus, it demonstrates a complete submission to its conqueror that is a man.

The new Cyrus watches, references 598.001.A / 598.002.A, are issued in limited series of just 188 pieces. They are available with 44 mm titanium cases, which feature polished, satin and sand-blasted surfaces. Each item portrays a registered "catch the eye" design, developed in the brand’s workshops.

Every timepiece is equipped with two distinctively protected crowns. The first one, marked with an exterior Cyrus logo, is presented at 3 o’clock. It serves to adjust hours, minutes and date. The second "keep the secret" crown is found at 9 o’clock. Also embossed with an exterior Cyrus logo, it reveals a number of the limited series piece with a lateral movement.

The top of the new Kuros watch is protected by a toric sapphire crystal. The back side of the case, meanwhile, bears the Cyrus registered logo. Moreover, it contains an identical copy of a more than 2,500-year-old coin, issued during the reign of Cyrus. Today, the original is owned by the company’s founders.

The case-back also features a text, directed to the watch owner. It reads, "Share the values of Cyrus the Great, the powerful conqueror, considered as the precursor of human rights. His spirit of conquest is still living in this timepiece. Be part of it."

Both models are built on self-winding chronograph ETA 2094-based movements. Adorned with 33 rubies, each mechanism comprises 316 components. It supplies a power reserve of 37 hours.

The movement serves to animate an array of functions, which are presented on a white or black dial. It strikes the eye with a "Trilogy" design, created in the brand’s ateliers. The dial is completed with three-dimensional Arabic numerals. The interior of the numbers is highlighted with Superluminova.

Taking care of hours and minutes are broad central hands. Also inlaid with Superluminova, the hands echo the shape of the brand’s three part logo. They are joined by a slim chronograph seconds hand with the Cyrus logo at its base. The seconds are displayed in a counter at 9 o’clock.

The dial also includes minute and hour chronograph counters with 3 sectors, which bring to mind the company’s logo. The counters are located at 3 and 6 o’clock. The date indication is arranged in a large exhibition window at 12 o’clock. The company’s logo at 4.30 rounds off the balanced appearance of the watch face.

The new Cyrus watch is teamed with a rubber bracelet, designed in a sport or classic style. The strap is fitted with a titanium clasp, which carries a Cyrus logo.

The case of the new Cyrus Kuros watch, reference 598.101.A, is also crafted from titanium, yet it boasts a black PVD-treated surface. A special attention getter of its black dial is a centralized red-painted chronograph seconds hand with the Cyrus logo at its base.

The new watches from the collection, references 598.201.A and 598.202.A, share most of the features with the models, described above. Their case, however, is fashioned from a marvelous combination of titanium and 18K red gold. The last-mentioned material is also found on hour and minutes hands, chronograph counters, raised Arabic numerals and chronograph push-pieces. The brand’s logo, presented on the grey dial at 4.30, is also performed in 18K red gold. The same material is employed in manufacturing of two crowns, located at 3 and 9 o’clock.

The new Cyrus Kuros watch, reference 598.301.A, is decked out in black PVD-treated titanium and 18K red gold. The latter is used for the same elements, as in the previously presented models. The dial of the timepiece is clothed in black.

A combination of bold design and flawless technical mastery, each remarkable watch from the Cyros collection is delivered in an exclusively designed presentation box.
