New Corum Romvlvs Watch - Perpetual Beauty of Timekeeping

Jul 14, 2008
The Corum Romvlvs collection has been joined by a new unique timepiece - Romvlvs Perpetual Calendar. The exquisite nature of the new Corum timekeeping creation implies the limited edition of just 25 pieces.

The Romvlvs Perpetual Calendar is equipped with an exclusive mechanism - CO-183 automatic movement, fully open-worked and decorated by hand.

With no adjustments, the timepiece will provide a complete display of the date, the day of the week, the month and the moon phases until the year 2100. Once the year 2100 comes, the watch will require a single correction by a professional to guarantee another century of timekeeping precision.

The ultra-complicated perpetual calendar mechanism provides the date function with help of a set of gear trains and cams. It accounts the day-length of every month (30 or 31 days), including the difference in length of February. Moreover, the CO-183 movement is one of the thinnest ever created. The movement also provides a 45-hour power reserve.

The mechanism reveals its skeletonized beauty with every part crafted and decorated by hand. It has acquired a scrolling wreath shape echoed by all the major parts. Crafted in 18-K white gold, the oscillating weight features the signature key logo as well as the name of the brand that seems to be floating in mid-air. is also featured. The mainplate and bridges of the movement are beveled, engraved by hand and rhodium-plated.

The black dial of the Corum Romvlvs Perpetual Calendar reveals a sunburst guilloche motif. It is completed with four tiny sub-dials demonstrating all the perpetual calendar indications:
  • the month and leap-year indications at 12 o'clock,

  • the date at 3 o'clock,

  • the day at 9 o'clock,

  • the moon-phases at 6 o'clock (along with the Corum key and name in gold letters).
The two sub-dials at 3 and 9 o'clock are fitted with a central sapphire lens slightly revealing the sophisticated heart of the timepiece.

The polished 18-K red gold case of the Corum watch measures 41 mm in diameter. It is graced by a satin-brushed version of the Romvlvs distinctive bezel engraved with 12 Roman numerals. The sapphire crystal case-back given anti-reflective treatment is secured by six screws. The fluted crown is worth special attention - it showcases a raised key symbol engraving.

The Romvlvs Perpetual Calendar is secured to the wrist on a black crocodile leather strap fitted with an 18-K red gold buckle.
