Corum Creates Admiral's Cup Challenge 44 Black and Gold

Jun 15, 2009
The Corum iconic Admiral's Cup sports collection welcomes two new timepieces - the Corum Admiral's Cup Challenge 44 Black & Gold - two chronograph models that boast 100-meter water-resistance.

The collection’s signature dodecahedral case measures 44 mm in diameter. It features the bezel and crown crafted from 18K red gold. The case itself is crafted from steel provided with black or gray PVD-coating.

The timepiece will be available in limited editions of 188 pieces with black PVD and 128 pieces with gray PVD.

The dial of the new Corum watches is created in black or dark gray. It is completed by red gold appliques for the chronograph counters and faceted hour markers. The time is indicated by red gold faceted hands with luminescent coating to guarantee perfect visibility under reduced light conditions. The date window is found at 4.30.

The crown of the watch is worth special attention - it is engraved with the CORUM key and provided with vulcanized-rubber protection.

The chronograph function is presented via a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, a 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock, and the small seconds counter at 9 o’clock.

The dial is shielded by a dodecahedral domed sapphire crystal with anti-glare treatment.

Due to the PVD-black or gray treatment, achieved with help of the most advanced processes, the case acquires a cover of supreme hardness of 1300 Vickers. The chronograph pushers feature the same treatment for the greater intensity of color, and the enhanced contrast with the red gold crown.

The Corum Admiral's Cup Challenge 44 Black & Gold watches are coupled with a black vulcanized rubber strap fitted with a triple folding clasp, also in black or gray PVD-treated steel and featuring the brand’s logo.

The timepieces are animated by the CO753 caliber, a mechanical chronograph automatic-winding movement, beating at a frequency of 28, 800 vibrations per hour and boasting the prestige and precision of a COSC-certified chronometer. The 27-jewel movement demonstrates exclusive Corum finishing with specific rotor, also with black or gray PVD-coating. The movement offers an advantage of a 48-hour power-reserve.
