To hear a crystal-clear tune played by the watch, its owner has to press the 10 o’clock push-piece or pre-set the alarm function and the tune will be played at the pre-set time.
This became possible via a patented application of a music-box mechanism principle. The traditional music-box cylinder has been replaced by a disc with the pins that alternately acts on the 15 metal teeth of the comb. The remarkable mechanism is enriched by a metallic glass membrane, which is manually engine-turned, and is used to amplify the frequencies necessary to emit the tune, and provides water-resistance.
The dial, connected to the pin-bearing disc, makes a full turn during the 20-25 seconds when the tune is being played. To make sure the music tune is always played in its entirety, the Breguet watchmakers developed a unique system responsible for preventing the rotation of the dial when the power reserve is insufficient (the power reserve indicator is found at 3 o’clock). Real watch lovers will surely appreciate the case-band embellished with musical notes instead of the traditional fluted pattern.
The case of the new Breguet watch is sculptured in 18K yellow or white gold and measures 48mm in diameter. It demonstrates rounded and soldered lugs and screw-secured spring-bars. It is 30-meter water-resistant.
The elegant dial is manually engraved on a rose engine and platinum-coated. It features a chapter ring with Roman numerals on the flange. Between 9 and 10 o’clock, you will notice a tiny circular window for alarm on/off indication.
Breguet caliber 0900, a 55-jewel movement, offers a 55-hour power reserve.
