Chopard Unveils Classic Racing Superfast Chrono Watch

Sep 07, 2010
On the occasion of its 150th anniversary, the house of Chopard is excited to present its Classic Racing Superfast Chrono men’s watch, which will come as an agreeable surprise to lovers of advanced technology hidden in the charismatic outer covering.

It has been issued as a part of the brand’s famous Classic Racing collection, which includes the Grand Prix de Monaco Historique watches, the Jacky Ickx pieces as well as the Mille Miglia series.

The ultra-powerful chronograph, whose inspiration was found in the world of motor racing, is available with a generously sized 47.80 mm steel case.

It is framed by a screw-down bezel, engraved with a tachometric scale.

The case is equipped with rectangular integrated pushers, rendered in black rubber-moulded stainless steel. It is also fitted with a screw-lock crown, which reminds a tyre. The crown proudly features a metal applique, marked with the Classic Racing collection steering-wheel emblem.

The new Chopard watch is instantly identifiable due to an oversized Arabic numeral at 12 o’clock and vertical go-fast rhodium-plated stripes, exposed on a frosted black dial. The same stripes are revealed on the case sides.

The display is also completed with hour-markers as well as hour and minutes hands, traveling over them. The hour-markers evoke the markings on classic car dashboard instruments, such as rev counters and speedometers.

As its name suggests, the Chopard Classic Racing Superfast Chrono watch provides the chronograph function, operated by the aforementioned push-buttons, located at 2 and 4 o’clock. They serve to control a central second hand, a 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock and a 30-minute counter at 9 o’clock. The last mentioned sub-dials are joined by a small seconds counter, positioned at 3 o’clock. The date indication is arranged in an integrated exhibition window at 6 o’clock.

Animating the functions is the COSC-certified self-winding chronograph movement - ETA Calibre 2894.2. The mechanism offers a 42-hour power reserve.

The new Chopard watch is coupled with an iconic rubber strap, adorned with the 1960s Dunlop Racing tyre-tread motif.
