A clever blend of powerful design and superb technical qualities, the new Chopard watch employs a 44mm case in steel or rose gold. Both front and back sides are fitted with glare-proofed sapphire crystals.
The top glass is securely held in place by an impressive bezel, marked with a tachometric scale. The screw-lock crown at 3 o’clock is embellished with the famous Mille Miglia arrow. The same symbol is featured in the center of the see-through case-back. The latter also bears the inscriptions - Limited Edition and Brescia-Rome-Brescia. The water-resistance of the case is assured down to 100 meters.
The new Chopard Mille Miglia GT XL Chrono 2011 watch boasts a dial, designed in a vintage style. Its engine-turned finish evokes dashboards of the vintage sports car. Completed with elongated numerals, the display indicates central hours and minutes. The small seconds are shown in a counter at 9 o’clock.
Set within the dial are also 30-minute and 12-hour chronograph counters, located at 12 and 6 o’clock respectively. All the sub-dials are silver-toned snailed and hollowed. The chronograph function is also ensured by a central seconds hand. The date indication appears at 3 o’clock, in a round aperture, covered by a magnifying glass.
All the functions are brought to life by a mechanical self-winding movement. Chronometer-certified by the COSC, it runs at the rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour and supplies a 46-hour power reserve. The caliber also incorporates a stop seconds mechanism, which assures setting the time to the nearest second.
The new Chopard watch is teamed with an integrated natural rubber strap, which design reminds that of the famous 1960s Dunlop Racing tyres.
The steel version of the model is offered in a limited edition of 2011 pieces. The issue of the rose gold interpretation is restricted to just 250 pieces.
