The precision of the indication is reached due to an extremely precise mechanism with the 135-tooth wheel driving the moon disc. The moon phases are visible through a large aperture to guarantee easy readability. The Northern part of the disc demonstrates the Big Dipper constellation, and the Southern part shows the Southern Cross constellation.
The L.U.C Lunar Big Date watch also provides the elapsed seconds and the date functions.
The finely polished case of the Chopard watch, reviewed by watches.infoniac.com, is crafted from 18K rose gold and measures 42mm in diameter. The elegant silvered guilloche dial is completed with rose gold applied Arabic numerals, dauphine hands for the central hours and minutes and small seconds presented between 3 and 5 o’clock. The face of the watch is protected by a glare-resistant sapphire crystal. The timepiece
is 30-meter water-resistant.
The Chopard watch is animated by the Chopard L.U.C 96 LD caliber. The COSC-chronometer-certified self-winding movement incorporates a micro-rotor winding system and a balance wheel beating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. The movement has two stacked co-axial barrels to offer a 65-hour power reserve. The bridges are adorned with Cotes de Geneve. The beauty of the movement is exhibited through a sapphire crystal window in the case back.
The Chopard L.U.C Lunar Big Date watch is coupled with a hand-sewn crocodile leather strap, either in black or brown, fitted with a polished 18K rose gold folding clasp. The timepiece will be available in a limited edition of 500 pieces.
