Chanel and Audemars Piguet Present: J12 calibre 3125

Feb 12, 2008
The Chanel 'J12' collection has acquired the prestigious status of an international watchmaking reference. The diversity of timepieces from the collection, no matter whether we are speaking about a model in black or white ceramic, a Tourbillon, a chronograph or the one radiating with diamonds, sapphires, emeralds or rubies, enjoys well-deserved success.

Now, when the Chanel Grand Complication model - 'J12' Tourbillon - has been highly appreciated in the horology world, Chanel has been eager to revive its authenticity through the development of a 'Haute Horlogerie' automatic movement with three hands, going back to the deepest roots of traditional watchmaking.

To make the dream come true, Chanel has partnered with one of the most prestigious Swiss watch manufactures, Audemars Piguet. The manufacture maintains the heritage of traditional craftsmanship, perfect finishes and meticulous attention to detail. The Audemars Piguet watches are based upon exceptional know-how united with state-of-the-art technology.

The exclusive partnership allowed the brands to combine their talents, having given birth to a new 'J12' edition - the 'J12 calibre 3125', characterized by graphic perfection and mechanical excellence. J12 calibre 3125 has joined Chanels Exclusive Edition, a series of sophisticated, jeweled watches with a powerful appeal among a very select band of watch aficionados.

The 42-mm case of the Chanel watch is crafted in 18K yellow gold and black ceramic. The uni-directional bezel features the same combination of materials. The watch construction features a face protected by a sapphire crystal and a display case back.

The Chanel J12 Calibre 3125 embraces the wrist with a black ceramic bracelet fitted with a patented Chanel triple-folding buckle in 18K yellow gold. The timepiece offers an advantage of 50-meter water-resistance and 60-hour power-reserve.

In the heart of the Chanel J12 Calibre 3125 there beats an exclusive automatic movement - CHANEL AP - 3125, based on the fusion of the AP 3120 movement and Chanel 'J12' ceramic. Chanel has redesigned the balance bridge and the rotor is crafted in mirror-polished black ceramic and 22K rhodium-plated yellow gold, mounted on ceramic ball bearings.

The double balance bridge has provided high precision positioning of the balance and higher degree of shock resistance, implying greater timekeeping precision. When the watch's wearer pulls out the crown, the balance stop lever is automatically activated to guarantee that the seconds hand is immediately stopped and the time may be set precisely.

According to Philippe Mougenot, President of the Chanel Watch and Fine Jewelry Division, Audemars Piguet conceives its movements in the finest watchmaking tradition, while Chanel is greatly expertised in the field of watch design excellence.

Through the successful collaboration with one of the most prestigious luxury brands in the world, Audemars Piguet is enhancing its visibility and prestige in the eyes of the international feminine clientele who have always been greatly attracted by the Chanel creations.

Chanel J12 Calibre 3125 will be officially revealed at Baselworld - the World Watch and Jewellery Show - to take place from April 3 to 10, 2008.
