The craftsmen who apply the granulation technique create small balls from threads of gold. They cut the tiny gold balls and heat them over a flame. Then, they assemble the granules one by one and fuse them with the gold plate. This way the craftsmen create the sensual relief of the motif.

Cartier Introduces Santos 100 chronograph
The Santos 100 chronograph is crafted in an amorphous diamond-like carbon (ADLC) and rose gold.

Cartier says, ADLC stands out of all other coating methods due to its unique property of the coating thickness, implying it will not demonstrate a contrasting color in case of scratching.

Besides, the case is distinguished by a fingerprint-resistant treatment, so there will not be left a fingerprint while touching it. According to Cartier, this process of specific treatment is applied in military equipment and the brand possesses exclusive rights to use the treatment in question for timepieces.

Cartier offers three interpretations - the Cartier Santos 100 XL Chronograph, Santos 100 XL and Santos 100. Both XL models boast a diameter of 38 mm, while the smaller one is equal to 32 mm.

Cartier is proud to unveil its new flying tourbillon timepiece – the Tourbillon and Crocodile Geneva Seal watch, calibre 9458 MC. Cartier has created a stir by the release of a new Rotonde Astroregulateur watch. An identifying attribute of the model is a self-winding mechanical Calibre 9800 MC movement, developed and manufactured from A to Z in the brand’s workshops.

The extraordinary mechanism was born as a result of painstaking effort invested by highly-qualified specialists within a period of five years. A true technical feat, the individually numbered movement is 10.1 mm thick and boasts a diameter of 32.5 mm. It comprises 281 individual parts. Embellished with 43 jewels, the mechanism runs at the rate of 21,600 vibrations per hour and offers an 80-hour power reserve.

The movement, housed in the new Cartier watch, required 60 hours of hand finishing. It also incorporates a circular-grained main plate. Its bridges, meanwhile, are beveled, drawn and adorned with a Cotes-de-Geneve pattern.

Cartier Introduces its "Captive" Watch
The famous watchmaker Cartier is delighted to present its novel “Captive” watch at the SIHH exhibition, which is scheduled for 2010.

The “Captive” watch from Cartier features an oversized case, measuring 35 mm in diameter. It is sculptured in 18 carat rhodium-plated white gold.

The new Cartier watch is mounted on a light grey brushed canvas strap. It is equipped with an adjustable folding clasp, done in 18 carat rhodium-plated white gold.
