Cartier Rotonde de Cartier Bear Motif Watch - Mastery of Contrasts

Sep 01, 2011
The house of Cartier is delighted to introduce its new Rotonde de Cartier Bear Motif watch.

A bewitching work of art, the novelty combines a perfect design with sophisticated mechanism. The main asset of the new Cartier watch is an 18-carat white gold dial with a bear motif, performed in wood marquetry.

Ten species of natural European wood have been thoroughly chosen with respect to their color, grain and texture and brought together to create the bear's fur: holly, chestnut, poplar, willow, grey and pink maple, walnut and burr walnut, mottled maple and grey aningeria. Skilfully composed of 38 parts, the display required over 160 hours of dedicated work.

The face of the new Cartier Rotonde de Cartier Bear Motif watch is embraced by an 18-carat white gold case. At 3 oclock, it features a circular-grained 18-carat white gold crown, paved with a sapphire cabochon. The case is 30-meter water-resistant. Hidden inside the model is the brands proprietary hand-wound mechanical calibre 9905 MC movement, which animates jumping hours.

Offered in a limited edition of 50 individually numbered pieces, the new Cartier watch is attached to a semi-matt brown alligator leather strap. It joins to an adjustable folding clasp in 18-carat white gold.
