Cartier Introduces Extra-Flat Ballon Bleu de Cartier Watch

Feb 10, 2011
This year, the SIHH trade show has heartily welcomed an impressive number of ultra-thin timepieces. Cartiers latest brainchild, which belongs to this category, is the Extra-flat Ballon Bleu de Cartier watch.

The appealing watch preserves all the advantages of the brands signature design. In spite of its diminutive profile, it makes a deep and permanent impression.

The new Cartier watch is proposed with a 46 mm case, crafted from 18 carat pink gold, white gold or 950/1000 platinum. All three versions are issued in a limited numbered edition.

The case sports an elegant bezel and a fluted winding crown with a blue cabochon. The latter is conventionally located at 3 oclock. The timepiece is 30-meter water-resistant.

Embraced by the case is a highly readable dial, protected by a top-quality sapphire crystal. The gold version of the new Extra-flat Ballon Bleu de Cartier watch has a silver guilloched display. The platinum interpretation comes equipped with a deep blue dial.

The face of the watch indicates hours and minutes by means of sword-shaped hands, rendered in blued or rhodium-plated steel. The hands travel over large Roman numerals and a minute track, featured closer to the center of the display.

Characterized by a remarkable degree of refinement and elegance, the new Cartier watch is teamed with a brown or blue alligator leather strap. It terminates in a double adjustable folding clasp, sculptured in 18 carat pink gold, white gold or 950/1000 platinum.
