In late September, 2010, the luxury watchmaker Christopher Ward will release a C70 Aston Martin DBR1 watch. The new model pays tribute to the famous victory, gained by Aston Martin, at Le Mans in 1959.
The issue of the Christopher Ward exclusive watch will be strictly limited to 500 pieces worldwide. It proudly reveals a number of components, dressed in British Racing Green - a hue, which is immediately associated with English motor sports.
The charismatic design of the timekeeper in question echoes many details of the winning car. The case of the model is offset by the British Racing Green bezel, which reflects the color of the car.
The background color, used for the watch face and three chronograph counters, is borrowed from the dark charcoal trim of the Aston Martin sport vehicle.
Even the hands, moving around the dial, magnificently reproduce the DBR1’s white needles on the speedometer, fuel gauge and its red rev counter. The oversized numbers on the dial duplicate the giant numbers in white circles, that could be viewed on the side of the every 1959 Le Mans car.
The new C70 Aston Martin DBR1 watch is available with a steel case, which measures 42 mm in diameter. On its front side, the case is assembled with a high-grade sapphire crystal.
Its back side, meanwhile, is artfully engraved with the year of the victory, the name of the winning car as well as the names of two co-drivers, Roy Salvadori (British) and Caroll Shelby (American).
The new Christopher Ward watch accommodates a three eye ETA 251.272 movement. A brown, perforated leather strap completes the features of this extraordinary timepiece.
