Meet Bulgari Papillon Chronograph Watch
The unique Papillon Chronograph, originally unveiled by Daniel Roth in 2008, is back, now as a part of the Bulgari Daniel Roth collection.

The Bulgari Papillon Chronograph watch has maintained a one-of-a-kind approach to short-time measurement of its predecessor. The central part of the dial demonstrates the minutes read off via an innovative mechanical device found on a bearing disc. The disc makes a full 360-degree rotation in two hours. It has two independent pivoting lozenge hands in turn gliding across a 180-degree segment with a graduated scale from 00 to 60 minutes.

The first hand is found on the semi-circular segment. Its tip is pointing to the minutes. The second hand stays retracted almost throughout the disc rotation. When the first hand gets to the 55th minute on the display segment, the second hand extends through a gradual quarter-turn to be positioned parallel to the first hand on the 00 minute indication. The moment the minutes restart from zero, the first hand progressively retracts and stays in such position for the 55 minutes to come.

Serpenti Watch Line from Bulgari
The starting point in terms of design for both watches and jewelry, manufactured by the Bulgari brand, was a serpentine scale motif. Thus, the horological company decided to use this time-tested technique again.

Bulgari is proud to present its new line of “scaled” pieces, the Serpenti collection, which comprises numerous watch interpretations. The watch comes with a bangle, which “winds” around a lady’s wrist. The design of the timepiece is a perfect mixture of many styles: each of them created by means of employing a different material or an embellishment.

The Serpenti watches demonstrate diamonds, pink coral, jade, as well as onyx. The bracelet is manufactured from precious metals, with 18k white and rose gold on the list.

The end of the bracelet exposes the watch part, which is represented in the form of a snake’s head. The face resembles an arrow head in its shape, while diamond-paved hour markers coordinate well with the stubby dauphine hands.

The Serpenti line is regarded as a jewelry collection rather than that of timepieces. It is distinguished by a relatively complex style of design that hearkens back to 1980s.

At the same time the Bulgari watch is extremely graceful in its design, suggestive of the times when Bulgari was making its first steps in the watchmaking industry.

Bulgari's Activity Aimed at Helping Children
Within the framework of its 125th anniversary celebration, Bulgari introduced a special photography installation at Beijing’s Today Art Museum.

More than 400 local and international VIPs visited the event, aimed at supporting the brand’s Save the Children “Rewrite the Future” campaign, which happens to be the largest international organization, children’s rights.

To celebrate the occasion, the Bulgari company unveiled its exceptional limited series line, consisting of couture precious stones and seven luxury timepieces to be put up for an auction in New York on December 8. Undertaking its world exhibition tour, the line will appear for viewing session in China.

The total estimated value of the line constitutes about 3 million Euros and all funds realized from the sale will go to the Save the Children organization.

Both Francesco Trapani, CEO of the Bulgari Group, and Zhao Zhonghua, head of the Save the Children China program were present at the event, that occurred on July 10-th. The latter also brought together many high society representatives with a famous Italian photographer Fabrizio Ferri among them.

According to Trapani, there could not be a better way for the Bulgari Company to mark its 125-th anniversary, than to provide some people with a chance to improve their life in future. He also expressed his confidence that with the help of both Bulgari’s customers and Save the Children supporters, the company would attain its ambitious goal.

Produced especially for the occasion, the Bulgari STC silver jewels were also brought to the forefront on that very evening. The Save the Children Logo, etched inside the silver ring, pays homage to the company’s founder, Sotirio Bulgari, who began as a silversmith.

From February to December 31, the silver jewels will be available in all Bulgari’s sales points all over the world as well as on Bulgari’s e-commerce website, which is active in the USA. 20% of a piece price will go to the campaign.

The objective of this very campaign is to deliver quality education to 8 million children from countries, suffered in wars. The target, set by the company, is to obtain 10 million Euros by the end of 2009: 1 million Euros from this amount has already been transferred to the organization in advance.
