Parmigiani Fleurier Bugatti Vitesse Watch - Sent from the Future

Jan 14, 2013
Parmigiani Fleurier proudly unveils its new Bugatti Vitesse watch. The novelty commemorates the new convertible Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse introduced in spring 2012 at the Geneva International Motor Show.

The Bugatti Vitesse watch follows the success of the Bugatti Super Sport presented in 2010. Standing out by the dial setting wheel at a 90 angle to the movement spindle, the exceptional timepiece was constructed with a double-pinion system with bevel gearing, and a sophisticated mechanism that provided a perpendicular time display.

The novelty has maintained the exceptional shape of the Bugatti Super Sport and the technical feat of the movement that animated it. The materials, colors and design of the Bugatti Vitesse have been inspired by the new car.

The Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport catches the glance by its paintwork. It represents a modern alloy, a combination of shine and matt color that contributed to the cars almost paramilitary look. Keeping this in mind, the designers of the new Parmigiani Fleurier watch used titanium to strengthen its masculinity. The case of the timepiece (36.0 x 50.7 x 22.7 mm) demonstrates perfectly polished and satin-finished surfaces, so it looks like it was sent from the future.

The dial of the Bugatti Vitesse watch is crafted from Texalium, a web of fiber glass provided by a thin layer of aluminum. The Texalium fibers are more reflective if compared to the carbon fiber used for the Bugatti Super Sport. They are presented in white or orange, the two colors featured by the car.

The oval dial of the new Parmigiani Fleurier watch has been redesigned to reflect the concept of speed first and foremost. The indexes between 3 and 9 oclock are spindle-shaped, giving an impression of acceleration. The delta-shaped hands are coated with a luminescent material for great legibility under any light conditions.

The crown of the model is topped by two cabochons of carnelian and lapis-lazuli. These are semi-precious stones of a rare purity. The blue or orange cabochons demonstrate the engraved initials of the brand.

The new Bugatti Vitesse watch is animated by a hand-wound movement - PF 372. Operating at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour, the 333-part, 40-jewel movement offers a 10-day power reserve.

The Parmigiani Fleurier Bugatti Vitesse watch is secured to the wrist on a Hermes alligator strap fitted with a titanium folding buckle with polished finish.
