JeanRichard Presents Bressel Hommage "Daniel" Watch

Jan 13, 2011
The name of the JeanRichard brand has been inspired by a true legend of watchmaking - Daniel JeanRichard. The genius watchmaker was born in 1665 in the hamlet of Les Bressel, between La Chaux-de-Fonds and Le Locle. In 1681, Daniel created his first watch, having later established his watchmaking workshop. The watchmaker constructed a machine and shared his development with his colleagues. He also trained apprentices.

Daniel JeanRichard represented the living embodiment of avant-gardism. He not only produced watches, he also invented watchmaking machines and tools, having provided the basis for studying the art of watchmaking itself.

Daniel JeanRichard is also famous for the pocket watch he created in 1710 as a true technical and aesthetic masterpiece. The "Daniel" pocket watch has been reproduced in many variations. Now, it is on display at the JeanRichard Museum.

The silver case of the pocket watch accommodates a crown wheel movement fitted with a chain and fusee mechanism responsible for transmitting the power from the mainspring in a regular manner. The intricately engraved balance-coq protects the balance. The enamel dial features a single hour hand presented in blued steel. The hour markers are slightly raised. The amazing thing about the pocket watch is that it is possible to open the bezel and run the finger over the hand and dial and read the time by touch even in complete darkness. The pocket watch also incorporates a calendar mechanism showing the date via a dial window.

This year, JeanRichard is pleased to unveil a timepiece that pays tribute to genius watchmaker, the pioneer and "father" of watchmaking in the Neuchatel Mountains, and his creations - the JeanRichard Bressel Hommage "Daniel" watch.

The Bressel Hommage "Daniel" watch has maintained aesthetic codes of the famous pocket watch created by Daniel JeanRichard. The case of the wristwatch is sculptured from 18K pink gold and measures 38 mm in diameter. It pleases the eye by its noble lines.

The pure white lacquered dial has been inspired by the enamel featured by the pocket watch. The finishes and details on the curved dial provide supreme readability. The Roman numerals are presented in black, while the leaf-shaped hands are in blued steel. The date is shown in red digits in a window found at 3 o'clock. The dial is protected by an antireflective sapphire crystal.

The case-back of the new JeanRichard watch holds one more surprise one can admire the workings of the Manufacture self-winding movement - the JR1000 via a sapphire crystal. Operating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, the 27-jewel movement gives an advantage of a 48-hour power reserve.

The JeanRichard Bressel Hommage "Daniel" watch is also available with a diamond-paved bezel.

The timepiece is 30-meter water-resistant. It is secured to the wrist on a black alligator strap fitted with an ardillon buckle in pink gold.
