The new 500 Fathoms watch is characterized by the following peculiarities:
- a boldly-sized case,
- a helium release valve,
- a remarkably legible luminous dial,
- impressive water-resistance down to 1,000 meters.
The case of the new 500 Fathoms measures 48mm in diameter. It is crafted from brushed titanium, the material of steely gray shade that is highly appreciated by watchmakers for its light weight, corrosion-resistance and hypoallergenic properties.
The upper part of the knurled titanium unidirectional rotating bezel, featuring luminous markings, is also produced from sapphire, a hard and scratch-resistant material.
The Blancpain 500 Fathoms incorporates a screw-down crown, protected from shocks by lateral shoulders.
The dial of the Blancpain watch has been designed in two tones - black and silver. The dial is completed with large Arabic numerals. The hollowed surfaces of the numerals, as well as the hour and minute hands, and a red-tipped second hand are coated with a luminous material to guarantee great legibility even in the dark. The black dial sections are also luminous. The tiny date window is positioned at 4 o’clock. The dial is shielded by sapphire crystal.
The glucydur balance with micrometric regulating screws is responsible for preventing any jarring to guarantee the smooth running of the watch. Three series-coupled barrels provide a 5-day power reserve.
The bold Blancpain 500 Fathoms watch is coupled with a rubber-lined sail canvas strap fitted with a new triple-blade folding clasp provided with twin security pushers.
The timepiece will be delivered in a stylish presentation box that comprises an extra rubber dive strap, and a special tool a watch owner should use to easily change the strap.
The Blancpain 500 Fathoms, to be presented at Baselworld 2009, is a great choice for those who need a diver’s watch of extreme reliability, great legibility under reduced or no light conditions and distinctive design.
