New Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph to Mark Singapore Grand Prix

Audemars Piguet has created an exceptional limited edition timepiece aimed to win the hearts of those who love high speeds, one more timekeeping creation to strengthen the ties between the world of exclusive watchmaking and the world of powerful automobiles. The two worlds are united by common values - thorough concern for detail, obsession with unique design and continuous pursuit of mechanical perfection.

The Royal Oak Offshore Singapore Grand Prix Chronograph, to join the extreme sports watch collection, marks the first ever Grand Prix to take place in Singapore. Audemars Piguet was really pleased to have participated in the event in Singapore that took place on September 28th. The company has maintained close links with Formula 1, having signed partnerships with Rubens Barrichello and Jarno Trulli. The brand's name is also closely associated with the realms of luxury cars via its association with Maserati.

The creators of the new Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph have not by chance opted for forged carbon to produce the case middle of the watch. The high-tech material is used for the production of aerofoils, vents and other parts of Formula 1 cars. The meticulous process of the forged carbon development implies compressing carbon fibres at high temperature to come up with the molecular structure characterized by remarkable lightness, resistance andhardness.

The Audemars Piguet watch is created in an ultra-sporty combination of red and black. The machined extremely dense black carbon contributes to the eye-pleasing appearance of the timepiece, featuring the steel bezel and its studs, with eight black PVD-coated steel screws, accentuating the distinctive octagonal shape. The case construction incorporates red chronograph push-pieces and a red rubber-moulded crown.

The case construction measures 42 mm in diameter and boasts 100-meter water-resistance. The case back of the timepiece reveals the engraved inscription: Royal Oak Offshore - Limited Edition - Singapore GP 2008.

The attention-grabbing red dial of the watch shows off exclusive 'Mega Tapisserie' motif. It has a clear layout, being completed with a small seconds counter at 9 o'clock, 30-minute counter at 9 o'clock and 12-hour counter at 6 o'clock. The big date aperture is found at 3 o'clock. The great readability of the dial is provided with help of luminescent numerals and hour and minute hands. Running around the dial, there is a black flange with a tachometric scale.

While Formula 1 cars are powered by truly impressive engines, the Royal Oak Offshore Singapore Grand Prix Chronograph is equipped with an exceptional movement - self-winding Audemars Piguet Calibre 3126, a mechanism synonymous to sturdiness, reliability and rating precision.

The 59-jewel movement comprises 365 parts, beating at 21,600 vibrations per hour. It gives an advantage of a 60-hour power reserve. All parts of the movement are hand-decorated, with the mainplate being rhodium-plated, bevelled and circular-grained, and bridges embellished with 'cotes de Geneve' motif.

The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Singapore Grand Prix Chronograph is secured to the wrist on a hand-sewn perforated black leather strap with red double stitching, fitted with a stainless steel AP folding clasp. The timepiece will be available in a limited edition of 250 pieces.
