Jaeger-LeCoultre and Marc Newson - Meet Atmos 566

Apr 23, 2010
On April, 14th, the CEO of Jaeger-LeCoultre Jerome Lambert and the Australian designer Marc Newson proudly announced their latest creation, named Atmos 566. The Press Conference, held in Milan, saw the attendance of more than 80 persons.

Two years ago, on the occasion of the Atmos 80th birthday, the Australian designer Marc Newson was given a free hand in recreating the renowned clock. Suspended in a bubble block of Baccarat crystal, the Atmos 561 clock by Marc Newson struck the eye with its pure and modern curves.

This year, the designer decided to continue his collaboration with the Jaeger-LeCoultre brand. Captivated by the charm of the complex horological mechanisms, he has opted for creating a new exterior for the Calibre 566 movement, which animated the functions of Atmos Astronomique, introduced in 2008. Marc Newson artfully turned the Baccarat crystal of the Atmos 566 into a second skin.

The Atmos clock has been produced in two interpretations: the blue series is limited to 28 pieces and the translucent edition is restricted to 48 items. This remarkable clock was born as a result of a perfect alliance between modern art, flawless craftsmanship, advanced technology and aesthetic refinement.

Generous in size, the cabinet lets in the light illuminating the complicated mechanism.
The new Jaeger-LeCoultre Atmos 566 clock not only displays the hours, minutes and the month, but also presents a fabulous panorama of the night sky as viewed from the Northern Hemisphere. Moreover, the timepiece includes an indication of the cardinal points and astrological signs.

Mysterious as it is, the Atmos clock will surely conquer its place at the pinnacle of timelessness.
