Breitling Designs Airwolf and Skyracer Raven Chronographs

Aug 04, 2009
Breitling has created two new timepieces aimed at either professional or amateur pilots or simply aviation-fans. These are special edition Airwolf and Skyracer chronographs, one electronic and the other mechanical, both characterized by perfect functionality. The watches have been given a special code-name Raven.

The new Breitling watches capture the gaze by their resolutely high-tech black and steel look. The timekeeping instruments are distinguished by rubber-moulded push-pieces and bezel.

The Breitling Airwolf chronograph watch is equipped with an exclusive SuperQuartz movement that drives all the functions to be used by professional pilots: 1/100th of a second chronograph, second timezone, countdown, alarm, and UTC.

The watch provides night-time read-off due to an NVG-compatible display backlighting system. The case-back of the timepiece
incorporates a turbine-shaped construction required as a resonance chamber for the alarm and other audible indications.

The Breitling Skyracer chronograph watch may be rightfully considered to represent the most efficient self-winding chronograph in the category. The timepiece accommodates Caliber 27, an exclusive movement that allows dual visualization of measured times.

The 60-minute counter with central hand provides perfect readability of any time measurement under one hour. For measuring longer time periods, the watch dial hosts a single two-hand counter displaying both the hours and minutes.

The watch allows to read off elapsed time instantly and without any confusion.

Both Airwolf Raven and Skyracer Raven watches, reviewed by, feature a rack-and-pinion mounted slide rule accentuating the fact that the timepieces are devoted to the field of aviation.
