The first watch from the legendary collection was conceived literally in the air, somewhere between Bangkok and Calcutta. The concept of this remarkable model was born after a Thai Airways pilot had explained to a Glycine associate, what kind of watch airline pilots needed.
The first customized Airman watch was released by Glycine also in 1953 and corresponded to all the requirements of frequent flyers. A new book entitled "Glycine Airman – a 24 hour timeline of flight" by Andre Stikkers can give the public a deeper perspective on the story.
At Baselworld 2010, the brand Glycine was delighted to present the 22nd generation of these renowned pilot watches.
The new Glycine Airman Base 22 watch completely meets the present-day preferences of airmen. Its exterior and size immediately bring to mind the first Airman watch developed in 1953.
Especially it refers to a model complimented by a white dial. The novelty remains faithful to the stylistic codes that contributed to the success of its glorious predecessor. The watch crown features the same lattice structure. Crafted with special attention to quality and detail, the timepiece has been reserved for those who appreciate classic Airman.
According to the Glycine’s CEO, Katherina Brechbuhler, the Airman Base 22 watch mirrors the fundamental philosophy promoted by the brand for many decades.
The new Glycine watch has been featured in three interpretations. The first version is a basic 24-hour watch, providing two time-zones. The second one is represented by a GMT model equipped with three time-zones and a red GMT hand. It is also available in a GMT variation intended for frequent flyers.
Equipped with the features, required by the professional pilots, the Glycine Airman Base 22 watch is surely destined for overwhelming success.
