The first Admiralís Cup watch joined the world of watchmaking in 1960. It was highly acclaimed as a reliable water-resistant sports model. In 1983, Corum introduced a new Admiralís Cup model that stood out by its twelve-sided case and the twelve nautical pennants from the maritime international code of signals - they substituted the hour-markers. These features have become the identity codes of the collection and the model enjoyed great success.
The new Corum watch demonstrates the vintage ďgunmetal blueĒ shade that characterized the 1983 model. It is to join the brandís Legend line initially presented in 2011 and appreciated for its classic elegance.
If compared to other members of the line, the novelty has become smaller in size, features more curving lugs and softer angles. Yet, it is faithful to the unique identity codes of the Admiralís Cup collection.
The case of the Corum Admiralís Cup Legend 42 watch is fashioned in 18K red gold or polished steel. The metallic blue color of the case and the outer bracelet links has been achieved by a special PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) treatment. The lugs, the crown guard and the dial are also presented in this color.
The distinctively elegant dial is embellished with a vertical guilloche finish. You will notice the stylized nautical pennants around the inner bezel ring.
The heart of the timepiece is a mechanical self-winding movement - Caliber CO 395. The mechanism animates the hours, minutes and small seconds, and date presented via a window at 3 oíclock. It provides a 42-hour power-reserve. Its oscillating weight is engraved with the Corum logo. You can drop a glance at the mechanism via the transparent sapphire case-back.
