Corum Unveils Admiral's Cup Chronograph 44 Centro Mono-Pusher Watch

Sep 06, 2010
The celebration of the 50th anniversary of Corum’s iconic Admiral’s Cup collection is highlighted by the introduction of another novel timepiece - the Admiral’s Cup Chronograph 44 Centro Mono-pusher. As suggested by its name, the watch boasts the mono-pusher chronograph complication.

The mono-pusher chronograph is a much less common than the conventional twin-pusher chronograph. The single pusher is used to stop, start and reset the chronograph.

The timepiece is animated by the brand’s exclusive CO961 Caliber, a mechanical self-winding movement that provides the mono-pusher chronograph with an innovative feature: while the chronograph minute hand is usually found in a separate sub-dial, the minute hand of Corum’s mono-pusher chronograph is found on the same axis as the hour and minute hands, explaining the watch’s name “Centro Mono-pusher”.

As a result, you will immediately notice that the face of the watch is absolutely uncluttered, especially for a chronograph model, and characterized by perfect readability, with the chronograph minute hand designed with a thin black base and a bigger red tip.

The 44 mm case of the new Corum watch, with its signature twelve sides, is sculptured from extremely light grade 5 titanium, provided with a resistant matt black PVD coating to come up with an outstanding hardness of 1300 Vickers. The bezel, with its softened angles, is also provided with black PVD coating. The lever at 2 o’clock is used for activating the chronograph function. The timepiece is 100-meter water-resistant.

The multi-level dial features the central part decorated with a Cotes de Geneve pattern. It is created in dark grey and black, along with the hour-indicating lacquered nautical pennants around the inner bezel ring. The facetted hands, the “30” and “60” numerals, and the applied chevrons demonstrate black luminescent coating. The dial is enlivened by a few red accents on a small triangle indicating the date, the minute-circle index and the chronograph minute hand.

The face of the Corum watch is protected by a cambered twelve-sided sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating.

The heart of the timepiece, the 27-jewel movement, oscillating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, with its black PVD-coated oscillating weight, may be admired via the sapphire crystal case-back. The precision and reliability of the movement is guaranteed by the COSC chronometer-certification. The movement offers a 48-hour power-reserve.

The Corum Admiral’s Cup Chronograph 44 Centro Mono-pusher watch is presented on a black vulcanized rubber strap fitted with a titanium-capped steel folding clasp. The timepiece will be available in a limited edition of 555 pieces.
