DeWitt Creates Avant-garde Academia Double Fuseau GMT2 Poetic Watch

Jun 02, 2009
The new Academia Double Fuseau GMT2 Poetic watch is a perfect reflection of DeWitt avant-garde approach to fine watchmaking and the finest Swiss horological traditions.

The new DeWitt watch is based on a bold combination of materials and colors. The case of the timepiece, 43mm in diameter, is sculptured from rose or white gold and has a screw-secured back.

The lustrous black dial of the timepiece is embellished with a sunburst guilloche motif and framed by DeWitt signature imperial columns. The dial is completed with applied polished gold Roman numerals and the minute track.

The zest of the dial is a globe motif made from “Goldfluss”. “Goldfluss” was initially elaborated in Venice. It is also known as gold glass and represents an extremely rare synthetic crystal that demonstrates gold and silver-colored “teardrop” inclusions. This material is really hard to work with. DeWitt watchmakers used “Goldfluss” as it creates an amazing depth effect on the flame-blued globe presented against the black sunburst guilloche dial base.

The DeWitt Academia Double Fuseau GMT2 Poetic watch is animated by a mechanical self-winding movement - Calibre DW2002. The movement provides a one-of-a-kind GMT complication. To adjust the second time zone, it is necessary to pinpoint its position on the tiny globe featuring day and night sections. When the second time zone is being adjusted, the earth turns counter-clockwise, and thus allows time-setting of the second time zone by the rotation of the small red central hand. The movement offers 42 hours of power-reserve.

The DeWitt Academia Double Fuseau GMT2 Poetic watch is coupled with an alligator leather strap fitted with a folding clasp in rose or white gold. The timepiece
, reviewed by Watches.InfoNIAC.com, is 30-meter water-resistant.
