JeanRichard Creates 2TimeZones Watch in Zirconium

Nov 03, 2009
According to the legend, Daniel JeanRichard, a founder of the watch industry in the Neuchatel area, engineered his first watch in 1681. It was an identical twin of the timepiece he once repaired for an English traveler. Thus, driven by a passion for a fine watch-making, this outstanding personality marked the beginning of the new brand’s history.

Ever since, the JeanRichard brand has never ceased to surprise watch enthusiasts with the innovative character of its models. Now, more than three hundred years later, this watch company is proud to release its exceptional collection, which includes the innovative 2TimeZones watch. Its distinctive flair is in a case, sculptured in a metal of zirconium.

Zirconium is a unique material, quite a newcomer to the world of watch-making. Mostly utilized in medical equipment and supersonic aircrafts, it is characterized by extreme resistance to shocks, corrosion and high temperatures. This material is also distinguished by its low weight and a warm matt color, which contributes to the elegant look of the watch.

Similar to other timepieces, produced by JeanRichard, the 2TimeZones Zirconium watch is powered by the in-house automatic mechanical JR1060 calibre movement, entirely executed in the brand’s ateliers.

The movement provides a dual time zone indication. The first time zone is presented conventionally: it is demonstrated via the central indication of hours, minutes and seconds. Complemented by the AM/PM indication, the second time zone is displayed in an exhibition window at 12 o’clock. The second cutout, nestled at 6 o’clock, offers a selection of 24 cities for different time zones.

The JeanRichard watch features two screwed crowns, placed at 3 and 9 o’clock respectively. The crown at 3 o’clock is developed for winding up the timekeeper, correcting the date, as well as setting the time. The crown, located at 9 o’clock, serves to alter the city indication.

The JeanRichard 2TimeZones Zirconium watch is proposed with a rhodium-finished or a black powdered effect stamped dial, which exposes hands and indexes, coated with a luminous compound.

The timepiece, reviewed by, is water-resistant down to 10 ATM. It is secured to the wrist on a rubber-coated alligator leather strap, which completes the elegant image of the model.
